Northwest GA Council Championship Race

The Council Derby Championship is open to all scouts who are registered with the Northwest Georgia Council. This race will take the place of the District PWD races. The event does not require qualification at the Pack or District level.
There will be six divisions for both Race and Show: Tigers, Wolves, Bears, Webelo I, Webelo II, and Family. The Family division is open to members of the Scout's immediate family including all parents and siblings. A Grand Champion race will be run as the last event with the top 3 cars in each division qualifying for the Grand Champion Finals. Attached are the NWGA Council PWD rules.
The entry fee will be $5 per car with trophies given 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for all divisions for both race and show. Cars can be entered in only one category, either Race or Show. Each participant is allowed only one entry.
Entry registration must be submitted and paid by Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Entry forms will be accepted at both the Dalton or Rome Scout Stores, or online at nwgabsa.org through the link on the main page or on the Scouting Calendar. Late entries will be accepted the day of the race at a double registration fee of $10 per car.
Race Category: Each division will race a round robin style format with each Scout racing twice on each of the 4 lanes. Electronic timers will be used. The fastest 7 of the 8 runs will be totaled to score the competition. Races will be run on 2 or more tracks with each division on the same track.
Show Category: The cars will be judged using a PWD Show Judging Rubric using the criteria of creativity/originality 10pts, workmanship/craftsmanship 10pts, appearance/finish 10pts, Scout influence/effort 20pts. For details, see the attached copy of the rubric. An independent third party will judge, who will have no prior knowledge of the cars or the Scouts.
Concessions will be available in the First Presbyterian Gym Lobby. No food or drink will be allowed in the Gym or race areas.
