BALOO ( Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) is the Cub Scout leader training required for any Cub Scout den or pack outdoor event, including pack camping overnighters and Webelos den overnighters.
BALOO training is comprised of two components—an online component and a practical, hands-on component. Both components must be completed to qualify as a “TRAINED” Cub Scout outdoor leader. The online component must be completed prior to the practical component. The online training contains introductory and basic information that will be built upon during the practical training. The online training can be found at my.scouting.org.
When, Where, Cost:
The Spring BALOO Course will be held March 13 & 14, 2021 at Camp Sidney Dew in NWGA council (3624 Everett Springs Road, Armuchee, Ga. 30105). The cost is $30.00, which includes Supplies and Food for the weekend. The course will run from Saturday (8:00am) to Sunday (12 pm).
What to Bring:
Participants should bring Completed BSA health form A&B, Uniform, Face Mask, Sleeping bag, Camp Chair, Pen, Paper, Mess Kit, Water Bottle, and Personal Affects. You do not need a tent (but are welcome to bring one), you do need warm clothing and a warm sleeping bag and blanket.
Social distancing will need to be practiced by all. Limiting face-to-face contact with others is the best way to reduce the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Social distancing, also called “physical distancing,” means keeping space between yourself and other people outside of your home. To practice social or physical distancing, one must stay at least 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) from others. Additionally all must answer a Pre-event Checklist.
Please arrive in uniform but have outdoor clothing ready. It might be cold!
